Meghalaya History

History of Meghalaya had been mentioned below. Meghalaya was ruled under the period of British in 19th centuary. Earlier the tribes like Khasis, Jaintias and Garos comprised of their own kingdoms which was spread around the state but now those religions are mixed together to live peacefully in the state of Meghalaya. British ordered to mix the state of Assam with Meghalaya in 1835. Meghalaya became the part of Eastern Bengal and Assam after getting partitioned from Bengal in 1905. Meghalaya became a region of Assam in 1912. Meghalaya comprised of Assam's two districts after Independence in 1947. The state of Meghalaya was formed into Assam state under Assam Recognition Act of 1969. Later, Meghalaya was converted as a state of India on 21st January 1972.
