Small city of Rishikesh is situated in the northern state of Uttrakhand. Rishikesh never had an airport of its own. However, the airline link for the city is provided by the Jolly Grant Airport which is located in Dehradun. The airport is about 15 Kms away from Risikesh and connects all the major cities of India. Taxis and cabs can also be availed in advance via the hotels. There are many Taxi stands outside the airport. Tourists can board the Taxi by paying a charge of 400 for the trip. The city has a railway station of its own and also offers taxi services for the tourists. It is recommended to fix the fare before boarding the cabs as fare prices are negotiable.

Most of the places of Rishikesh can be travelled on foot without any vehicle. It is a very good way to visit such places. As the city is small, one can travel places quickly and gain a unique experience.

Auto Rickshaw services is very comfortable and widely used in Rishikesh. It can be availed easily from bus stations and outside railway stations. Autos generally do not have meters attached and therefore, fare can be negotiated easily. An average of 15 INR is paid for each Km. No separate fare is charged for travelling in nights.
