Chennai had been ruled by many kings and for many years which created history and their emergence in Chennai created a great impact on people. Settlement of forces in city seems to be interesting so let us name the forces which accessed the city and they are Cholas, Pandayas, Pallavas, Vijayanagar Empire, Portuguese, French and East India Company. Later, India got independence and Chennai was known to be the capital of Tamil Nadu, India.

The city comprises of amazing culture which seems to be overwhelming and mind boggling. Some of the tasty cuisines which belong to the city are Idli, sambhar, vada, dosa, chutney, rice, rasam, pickes, pappadams, filter coffee, etc. The famous festival that is celebrated with full enjoyment and enthusiasm and with great zeal is Pongal. Chennai is incomplete without this festival so it is celebrated with great diversity. This festival is celebrated with special Puja done in dedication to Sun, cattle and nature. This festival is followed five days and these five days are meant to be memorable throughout the life. Christmas and Eid are other festivals celebrated in Chennai. Its culture also has traditional dance and art forms which is eye catching. Tamil Film Industry famously known as ‘Kollywood’ is a specialty of state Tamil Nadu. Kollywood is a renowned film industry of the world and they are known to be equal as Bollywood and Hollywood.
